As fans of American College Basketball know, the end of this month is affectionately referred to as March Madness! The NCAA tournament has certainly been entertaining with the tiny St Peter's Peacocks from New Jersey beating the likes of the perennial power University of Kentucky Wildcats on their way to the elite eight! Meanwhile here in Scotland, we have been having our own March Madness as teams at all levels are playing important matches and the season culminates shortly with the Scottish Cup Finals and League Playoffs.
I have been thrilled with the progress of our Senior Men who travelled to Grangemouth to claim our biggest win of the season to date! We took a commanding lead early in the contest and were up by twenty-one points at the half. That lead was extended to twenty-six in the third quarter before the home side made a run. The final score was Fury 71 - Saints 82! That win was fuelled by outstanding performances by three of our team leaders and the support of our entire squad. Nick Collins led the way with 30 points and 10 rebounds, Fergus Harte had 11 points and 11 assists and Chris Cleary had 17 points and 13 rebounds!
Our efforts have kept our League Title challenge alive as we head into our final two matches. We play the Edinburgh Kings, both home and away, to finish the season and two wins would secure the League Championship.
